Alleyway of Dreams is a 50 year community art project taking place in the lane way between Danforth and Coleman Aves. Headed up by local residents on Coleman Ave, the intention of the project is to bring positivity and beauty to our corner of the world through community engagement and action. The organizers describe it as “Creating a cross-pollinating art and cultural corridor in East York embracing Nature, human potential, diversity, freedom of imagination, and community.” Super cool…
Several murals have already been painted along this stretch and the latest is almost complete on the rear of Dixon Hall! A huge space to cover! (very exciting!)
Young artists from Centre 55 have been involved in the mural’s implementation, and the peeps at Dixon Hall should be celebrated for generously offering their space for this amazing community art project.
An informal unveiling celebration will be held Saturday August 16th at 5pm (sorry for the late notice, all!). The event will take place in the Alleyway at the mural itself – which is located north of Danforth between Dawes and Main. Come celebrate the work, meet your neighbours and shine some light on this amazing local project!
