Construction Notice – Danforth!

It’s coming, it’s coming!

As I posted earlier in the Spring, plans are no longer afoot for re-construction of Danforth between Woodbine and Victoria Park, but will actually be happening.  In fact, The City, via Danforth Village BIA, has just released a notice letting residents and local business owners know that construction is imminent.

The work will include replacement of water main pipes and sewers, sidewalk reconstruction and improved urban design and streetscaping (meaning: new trees, plants and street lights).

What this means in the short term is some traffic restrictions (such as some access to certain driveways may be restricted), noise/dust inconveniences (as with most construction processes) and parking restrictions (in active construction zones).  However, our patience with these difficulties will pay off as a very-much-improved Danforth streetscape will be revealed at the completion.

Here is a link to the notice on the Danforth Village website.  Here is a link to the City’s Construction site.  Also, below are a few photos of some of the proposed work – I took these at the open house in April, 2014.

If you’d like to receive regular updates on the progress of the construction, please email Josie Franch at jfranch@toronto.ca.  Additionally, if you have concerns, feel free to email our councillor, Janet Davis, at councillor_davis@toronto.ca
